We are Kurt and Connie Lubben.  We are located in northern central Michigan about ten miles east of Lake Michigan.  We live on a small hobby farm were we frequently have ducks, chickens, pigs, turkeys and sheep.

Our entrance into the wonderful world of Bloodhounds began quite by accident.  We both have had several dogs before we were married and two dogs since we where married, but never a Bloodhound.  Connie had a Great Dane that was a favorite of hers and when it came time to acquire our new family member we started looking for a Great Dane puppy.  After several disappointing kennel visits we visited a kennel that had a Bloodhound in with a Great Dane.  We were both very impressed and decided Bloodhounds were a breed we needed to research.  We went home and began to research the breed and kennels.  We were new to the breed and not aware of the American Bloodhound Club.  After a great deal of amateur research, the closest kennel we found that had puppies we thought we could afford was in Georgia.  It was with nervous excitement we sent the money hoping it was not a scam.  It was several days before the weather was cool enough to ship a puppy by air.  We drove to the airport and waited like parents watching for their new adopted child.  Finally we met our first Bloodhound, up close and personal.  Our life has never been the same, and that may be an understatement.

Belle was the center of attention and spoiled beyond normal puppy treatment.  We hired a handler and on her six-month birthday Belle received her first point.  We were hooked on showing.  Connie was the first to try handling; however she discovered she was better suited to spoiling the dogs, than handling the dogs in the show ring.  Kurt tried next and will probably stop showing shortly before his death.

Shortly after we started showing, we knew we needed another Bloodhound.  Nine months after Belle, Rebel joined our family.  We were too nervous, to let another one of our children fly so this time we drove to pick him up from southern Illinois.  He rode on Kurt’s lap the entire way home.  We now drive to pick up all our new arrivals.

Realizing all the affection and enjoyment we received from bloodhounds we knew we wanted to do what we could to help preserve the breed in its highest form.  Thus, Allusive Dreams Bloodhounds came to be.  We hope that we can contribute to the Bloodhound breed and help others to see and experience the bloodhound for all they have to offer.
